Texarkana man arrested after SWAT operation in connection with Price Lane shooting

A Texarkana man is in custody following a high-risk SWAT operation Wednesday morning, the result of an investigation into a weekend shooting that left one person injured, according to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to reports of gunfire in the area of 600 Price Lane around 11:20 p.m. on Friday, August 15. A vehicle carrying a gunshot wound victim left the area and crashed into a machine shop at 420 Senator Street, police said.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash scene and provided the victim with emergency medical treatment, including the application of a tourniquet, before the victim was transported for further medical care.

The investigation into the shooting led to warrants being issued for 33-year-old Decoyae DeWayne Mitchell on charges of first-degree battery and 20 counts of terroristic act.

Due to the violent nature of the offense, the Texarkana Police Department SWAT Team was asked to execute a high-risk search and arrest warrant operation at an apartment at 3302 Washington Street, where Mitchell was known to reside. The operation took place Wednesday morning, August 19. Mitchell was located at the apartment and arrested without incident, police said.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
