Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Talarico brings tour to Texarkana on Tuesday
TEXARKANA, Texas — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico is bringing his statewide “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts” tour to Texarkana on Tuesday for a meet-and-greet with voters.
The event is set for 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Canvas Special Events Center, 2101 Texas Blvd. Doors open at noon and parking is free, according to the campaign.
The Texarkana stop is part of a 20-city tour Talarico announced Friday. It kicked off Sunday in Plano and wraps Nov. 2 in Austin. After Texarkana, the tour heads to Tyler for a 7 p.m. rally Tuesday.
Talarico faces Republican Ken Paxton in the Nov. 3 general election. A recent University of Texas/Texas Politics Project poll put Talarico three percentage points ahead, within the margin of error.
The stop falls during early voting, which runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30.
“Texans are tired of being divided into teams — red versus blue, left versus right, rural versus urban,” Talarico said in a statement announcing the tour. “That’s why we’re traveling across the state to unite working people onto one team.”
The tour takes its name from the “Friday Night Lights” motto, “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.”
Paxton launched a competing 18-day “Come and Take It” bus tour Saturday that runs through Nov. 2.
