Texarkana woman arrested for DWI with 2-month-old in car, police say
TEXARKANA, Texas — A 24-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger early Saturday morning after a group of teenagers called 911 about her disabled car, the Texarkana Texas Police Department said.
Around 1:20 a.m., Officer Macy Huddle was sent to a business on St. Michael Drive, where the teenagers had called 911 about a woman who hit a curb, blew out a tire and disabled her car while trying to turn into the parking lot, police said. The woman had apparently been trying to record a video of herself while driving. As the teenagers helped her, they became concerned she was intoxicated.
Huddle confirmed their suspicions and arrested Kyuna Kight, 24, for DWI, according to police.
Kight had her 2-month-old baby in the car with her. Driving while intoxicated with a child younger than 15 in the vehicle is a state jail felony under Texas law.
She was booked into the Bi-State Jail, where her bond was set at $10,000.
