Arkansas woman arrested for animal cruelty after dozens of pets found neglected or dead

A Lafayette County Arkansas woman is in custody for animal cruelty charges after dozens of neglected and dead pets were found in her home.

According to an animal rescue organization involved with the case, on Tuesday the 8th Judicial District South Judge Kirk Johnson signed a warrant for the arrest of Sonya Rena Johnson 4 felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty and 15 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty for the horror she inflicted upon the animals she abandoned locked in cages, locked inside the residence in Canfield Arkansas.

The warrant was served around 3:30 p.m Thursday.

Johnson is currently in the Lafayette County Jail.
