The new playground at Beverly Park in Texarkana was vandalized overnight, less than 24 hours after being installed.

Plastic fencing surrounding the play area was purposely set on fire destroying a section, causing work crews to replace it Friday morning. A slide is also heavily damaged due to also being melted by fire.

According to the city, months and years was spent planning, preparing, budgeting and installing brand new playground equipment, only for it to be vandalized within 24 hours of installation.
