The Texarkana, Texas City Council will set an end date for the contract of City Manager John Whitson at a meeting Friday.
The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. with a closed session followed by a public portion.
Two items will be voted on: one setting an end date to Whitson’s contract, the other appoint an interim city manager to take effect immediately upon approval.
“These action items follow discussions between the Council and Mr. Whitson, and we will have more information to provide to the public at the Friday meeting,” said Mayor Bob Bruggeman.
According to a press release, Whitson intends to retire in early 2018.
