The City of Texarkana, Texas Farmer’s Market will open to the public this weekend, Saturday, May 24th, 2014. This season, the Farmer’s Market will host many local personalities, events, and entertainment groups and hopes to welcome large crowds to the location at 305 Texas Boulevard in downtown Texarkana.
The grand opening this weekend, sponsored by P.O.D.S., will feature a Texas A&M Forest Service tree giveaway, and live entertainment by the Small Potatoes Band at 9:30 a.m. Flour Child Fine Foods’ executive chef Amanda Horton will also be on hand.
“The Farmer’s Market is always a great way for residents to purchase locally-grown, fresh foods that lead to a healthier lifestyle and cleaner living,” Orr said. “This year will be packed full of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.”
The Farmer’s Market is open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 7am until the produce is sold out through July. Events throughout the season include a Northeast Texas Wine Day on Saturday, May 31st, a Farm Fresh Cooking Series hosted by Executive Chef Amanda Horton, the 2nd annual Green Tomato Day hosted by Wrights Auto Body and Glass on June 14th, a composting workshop on June 21st, the 4th annual tomato contest hosted by Grand Storage Solutions on June 28th and a Salsa contest hosted by BWI Companies on July 19th. The Texarkana, Texas Farmers’ Market is a seasonal open-air farmers’ market featuring quality locally grown, natural produce. Available items include vine-ripened heirloom tomatoes, hot peppers, crook-neck yellow squash, herbs, crafts, home-baked goods, farm eggs, home-canned items, and local honey.
