Texarkana man arrested for DWI after causing 4 vehicle accident

A Texarkana, Texas man is in custody for allegedly driving while intoxicated after causing a four vehicle accident on State Line Ave. Thursday evening.

Daniel Stone, 49, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while license suspended, no vehicle insurance, and expired tags.

Texarkana, Ark. Police and Fire were dispatched to the 4900 block of N. State Line Ave. in reference to a four-vehicle accident just after 8 p.m.

According to the police report, Stone appeared very shaky, disoriented, sweaty, and his speech was slurred and hard to comprehend when officers made contact with him.

“He explained he had just left sonic and dropped his drink on the floor of his vehicle. He said he went to reach for his drink and as soon as he looked up, he was rear-ending a black truck in front of him.”

The impact caused the black truck to impact the vehicle in front of it which then impacted another vehicle.

Occupants of the other vehicles reported minor injuries, but declined treatment from LifeNet.

Due to Stone’s disoriented state, shaky demeanor, and slurred speech a field sobriety test was conducted.

According to the report due to Stone’s slurred and incoherent speech, his shaky demeanor, and the field sobriety test he was taken into custody.

After being taken into custody, Stone started to complain about his chest and shoulder hurting. He was transported to Wadley hospital to get checked out.  After being cleared at Wadley Stone was transported to the Bi-State Jail.
