The parents of a 1-month-old girl found to have suffered physical abuse last year entered plea agreements recently in Miller County.
Crystal Uribe, 24, received a 10-year term of probation and a $1,000 fine. Charles Uribe, 30, received a five-year prison term with credit for 608 days he spent in the Miller County jail while his case was pending.
Both parents were arrested in February 2018 for battery. The couple’s daughter was found to be in critical condition and airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock after being seen at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana with bruising, broken bones and a throat injury, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The baby was suffering from fractured ribs in various stages of healing which could mean the child was assaulted on more than one occasion. The Uribe’s infant daughter was also suffering from two breaks to her pelvis and had an injury to her esophagus officials said could have been caused by someone shoving something into the child’s throat.
According to testimony at a hearing last year, another child was removed from Crystal Uribe’s custody in the state of Montana prior to her marriage to Charles Uribe.
Crystal Uribe filed for divorce from Charles Uribe after the arrests.
