Two arrested on multiple charges after auto theft

On Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 at 7:00 a.m., Texarkana Arkansas Police Officers Chase Dixon and Mason Shepherd responded to Fire Station #2, located at 2724 Senator Street, to a reported auto theft. Upon arrival police learned that a 2007 red Chevrolet truck belonging to an individual was stolen from the location.

A short time later, at 9:20am, Officer Dixon and Shepherd observed the reported stolen vehicle traveling north in the 3600 block of County Avenue. The officers pursued the vehicle to the parking lot of 3604 County Avenue, at which time 2 unknown suspects bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot in separate directions. Both Officers gave chase and ultimately apprehended the fleeing suspects who were identified as Lamario Harper, 21 yoa, and Marcarius Stroops, 20 yoa, both of Texarkana. Search incident to arrest revealed a wallet containing financial information and identification items belonging to a victim form a recent vehicle burglary (not related to the auto theft), and a plastic bag containing several prescription medication pills believed to be a schedule IV narcotic.

Both suspects were charged with; Auto theft, theft by receiving, fleeing, and possession of a controlled substance. Harper was found to have an outstanding warrant for contempt of court. Stroops was found to have warrants for misdemeanor probation violation and felony probation violation.
