A federal judge in Texarkana sentenced an 84-year-old man to 262 months in federal prison Wednesday for sexually exploiting a girl under 16.
Jay Earl Anderson of Winnsboro, Texas, coerced the girl into performing sexual acts and then shared photographs of the abuse with at least three others via the internet, according to court documents filed in the Texarkana Division of the Eastern District of Texas. Anderson pleaded guilty in August to exploitation of a minor to produce child pornography.
Two other counts, coercion of a minor and distribution of child pornography, were dismissed Wednesday on an oral motion from the government. Anderson appeared before U.S. District Judge Robert Schroeder III with Texarkana attorney Craig Henry.
In addition to the 21-year and 10-month sentence, Anderson is also required to pay $15,192.81 in restitution directly to his victim. Anderson was also ordered to pay a $5,000 special assessment which is standard in federal child sex abuse cases. That money will be used to fight human trafficking.
If Anderson lives long enough to serve his prison sentence, he will be supervised by federal probation for life and must register as a sex offender.
