TEXARKANA, TEXAS – The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested Adonte Starks, 21, of Texarkana Arkansas, this morning for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon for dragging a 24 year old Texarkana Arkansas woman with his vehicle in the 2400 block of Ball Street.

Texarkana Arkansas police officers were dispatched to Christus St. Michael Hospital at 9:30 Wednesday night after Starks drove the woman to the emergency room. He told the medical staff that he had found her injured and lying in the roadway near Albertsons Grocery in Arkansas. As their investigation developed, they learned that Starks had recently been involved in a relationship with the victim that he had failed to disclose and that the evidence did not support his statements to them. It was eventually determined that Starks had misled the investigators and the incident occurred at a location in Texarkana Texas. At that point, Texarkana Texas detectives were notified to take over the investigation.

While detectives continue to work to determine the circumstances, they believe that Starks and the woman became involved in an altercation after meeting together a vehicle in the 2400 block of Ball Street. At some point, Starks drove away at a high rate of speed while she was either partially inside the vehicle or hanging on the outside of the vehicle. She suffered severe head trauma when she fell from the vehicle and hit the pavement. Detectives are looking for at least one other person believed to have been in the vehicle when this occurred.

The victim was initially treated at Christus St. Michael Hospital and was later transferred to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. Her medical condition is not known.

Starkes was booked into the Bi-State Jail early this morning. His bond has been set at $100,000.
