The Wake Village Police Department announced today that charges of Capital Murder have been filed against Andrew Deiontrey Hamilton.

The charges were filed in connection with the murder of Winfred Hamilton, 61 of 402 Village Lane in Wake Village. This homicide occurred on September 14, 2017 and has been under the investigation of the Wake Village Police Department since that date.

According to Wake Village Police, these charges are the result of an extensive and lengthy investigation between them and several other local agencies.

Texarkana, Texas Police Department, apprehended the suspect several hours after the crime and provided assistance and guidance with recovered evidence.

According to Wake Village Police, this crime could not have been solved without the assistance of Melissa Simpson, Bowie County Juvenile Probation Officer. “Her assistance with
identifying key figures in this investigation proved invaluable.”

The delay in the filing of charges were partially the result of awaiting results on evidence that had been submitted to respective labs for analysis. Other evidence is still being examined and their results should be forthcoming in the next weeks and months.
