Man Charged With Retaliation In Texas For Alleged Intimidation Of Arkansas Witness
TEXARKANA, Texas–A man who was charged in April with aggravated assault in Miller County is now facing a felony retaliation charge in Bowie County for allegedly threatening a witness, coming to her job, and having a female companion punch her in the face.
Xavier Negron, 19, was allegedly in the company of an unidentified woman wearing a yellow hoodie pulled tightly around her face when he went to a Texarkana grocery store April 16 and approached a woman who worked there, according to a probable cause affidavit. The woman in the yellow hoodie allegedly punched the store employee multiple times in the face before leaving with Negron.
After the alleged assault, Negron was allegedly uncooperative with officers, who noted that a yellow hoodie was in the back seat of Negron’s car.
The grocery store employee had allegedly witnessed Negron “pull out a gun and threaten to kill her sister’s boyfriend,” in Texarkana, Ark., on April 1.
Negron was released from jail April 1 on a $15,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault in Miller County, Ark., court records show.
Negron allegedly sent the potential witness a message the day after he was released, the affidavit said. The message allegedly said that the witness “and her family had better drop the charges, calling them all snitches, and stated that if they don’t, he is ‘not done,’” the affidavit said.
Negron faces two to ten years in prison if convicted of retaliation in Bowie County. He is currently free on a $50,000 bond on the Texas charge.
He remains on the original $15,000 bond in Arkansas. If convicted of aggravated assault in Miller County, he faces up to six years in prison, a fine up to $10,000, or both.
