TEXARKANA, TEXAS – The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred late Saturday night in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Milam Street that is believed to have been the continuation of an altercation that occurred earlier in the evening. Three men suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds during the incident and are being treated at local hospitals.
Officers were dispatched to the area shortly after 11:00 Saturday night and found a 17-year-old man lying in the front yard of a residence in the 1500 block of Milam, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to Christus St. Michael Hospital by ambulance. Minutes later, Wadley Regional Medical Center reported that a second gunshot victim had arrived there seeking medical treatment. The 24-year-old man had been shot in both his leg and arm. Officers also learned on Sunday that a third victim involved in this incident had driven themselves to a medical facility in Hope, Arkansas for treatment.
During the initial investigation, officers found bullet holes on the north side of a house in the 1400 block of Milam. One weapon and numerous shell casings were also recovered at the scene. Detectives, who continue to investigate the shooting, believe that the two groups involved in the earlier altercation shot at each other from the yards of the two houses. Detectives have not yet made any arrests, but warrants are expected to be issued soon.
