The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested Cody Graf, 26, of Ashdown, Arkansas, for Deadly Conduct late last week after he pointed a gun at another motorist during a road rage incident.
The victim told officers that a man, later identified as Graf, started following her while honking his horn after she inadvertently changed lanes into his path. After she stopped in the Central Mall parking lot, Graf pulled up beside her vehicle and pointed a handgun at her. The victim said she immediately sped away with Graf chasing her while he held the gun out of the window of his truck. When the victim saw an officer on a traffic stop on Richmond Road and pulled in behind her patrol unit, Graf continued driving past and left the area.
Graf called 911 several minutes later to report that his vehicle had been hit during the incident and asked officers to meet him on the Central Mall parking lot. When asked, he told officers that he had pointed the gun at the woman in the other vehicle only because the passenger had pointed one at him. However, officers had already determined that the only people in the other vehicle were the victim and her three young children in the back seat. The victim allowed officers to search her vehicle, and no pistol was found. Additionally, no damage was observed to either vehicle.
Graf was arrested and transported to the Bi-State Jail. He was released on Friday after posting a $5,000 bond. His Glock pistol and ammunition that he had in his truck was seized as evidence.
