Two in hospital after early morning police pursuit

Two people are in a local hospital after crashing while attempting to evade police in a pursuit.

At around 2:30 a.m., Monday December 3, 2018, Wake Village patrol officer Jeremy Johnson was patrolling the north side of Wake Village in an attempt to thwart car burglars when Officer Johnson located a suspicious vehicle. Johnson observed the driver of the suspicious vehicle make a traffic violation leading Johnson to attempt to make a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield to Johnson. Johnson pursued the vehicle into Nash and on to east bound Interstate 30. The suspect vehicle exited onto Mall Drive and while exiting onto Richmond Rd, the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll multiple times. The driver fled from the crash and was pursued on foot by Officer Johnson across east and west bound lanes of Interstate 30 until Johnson was able to take the driver into custody without further incident. Back up units began arriving on scene and located a black male that had been ejected from the vehicle and was in critical condition. 2 pistols and stolen property have been located in and around the wrecked vehicle.

At this time, both suspects are receiving care at a local hospital. The driver is in stable condition while the passenger is in critical condition. This incident is currently being investigated by both the Texarkana Texas and Wake Village Police Departments.
