Woman Accused Of Stabbing Outside Texarkana’s Bi-State Justice Building
TEXARKANA, Texas–A woman who allegedly used a pointed stick to stab another woman outside the Bi-State Justice Building in downtown Texarkana last week after she declined to share her cigarette is being held in the Bowie County jail.
Kimberly Bryant, 59, was reportedly carrying a stick with a pointed end when she approached a 32-year-old woman who was smoking a cigarette outside the Bi-State, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Bryant allegedly asked the woman if she could have her cigarette and began stabbing her with the sharpened stick when the woman refused, the affidavit said.
The woman reported that during the attack, Bryant shouted, “I’m going to fucking kill you.”
The building is home to both the Texarkana, Texas, and Texarkana, Ark., Police Departments, the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, a number of other state and county offices and a jail. A building manager who was on the building’s first floor observed the attack and intervened, separating Bryant from the alleged victim and telling her to leave the premises.
Officers with the Texarkana Texas Police Dept. found Bryant nearby in the 300 block of Main St., allegedly still carrying the sharpened stick, the affidavit said. Bryant was wearing the pink shirt and red pants described by witnesses and allegedly began approaching the patrol unit with the stick.
Officers reportedly ordered Bryant to drop the stick, cuffed her and took her into custody.
The woman who was attacked reportedly told officers that Bryant became irate when she refused to give up her cigarette. The woman was allegedly stabbed in a pinky finger, causing it to bleed, and in her chest, causing scratches, the affidavit said.
If convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Bryant faces two to twenty years in prison.
Bryant is currently being held in the Bi-State Justice Building jail.
