Construction of new trails along Cowhorn Creek has begun and is expected to take around four months to complete.
The project consists of extending the existing walking trail from the Texarkana Convention Center south along Cowhorn Creek to Kennedy Lane, constructing sidewalks along Kennedy Lane from Cowhorn Creek to Cowhorn Creek Road and along Cowhorn Creek Road from the Texarkana Convention Center to Moores Lane.
Cowhorn Creek Road will also be restriped from two lanes in both directions to one lane in both directions and a turn lane and bike lanes.
This project also consists of replacing the traffic signal at Cowhorn Creek Road and Kennedy Lane, and installing new traffic signals at the intersection of Cowhorn Creek Road and S. Cowhorn Creek Loop Road and the intersection Cowhorn Creek Road and Galleria Oaks Drive.
The project is expected to be finished by early fall.
