Miller County Sheriff’S Office investigating after 1-year-old drowns in bathtub

Miller County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 1-year-old child drowned in a bathtub Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, July 9 at approximately 7:30pm, Miller County First Responders and EMS personnel were dispatched to a residence on Miller County Road 40 south of Fouke. EMS personnel were advised that a 1-year old female had apparently been found in a bathtub containing water, and that the child was not breathing.

First Responders and EMS personnel performed CPR on the child at the scene, and the child was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Michael E.R. where the child was pronounced deceased at 8:39pm by an E.R. physician.

Miller County Deputies and CID Investigators responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident. CID made notification to the Arkansas Department of Human Services who dispatched personnel to the scene as other minor children were at the residence.

The victim has been transported to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock to determine the manner and cause of death.

The Miller County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is conducting follow up interviews and are examining evidence associated with this tragic incident.
