On Friday April 24, Mount Pleasant Police Department Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 26 year old Megan Williams of Mount Pleasant for Sexual Assault of A Child, a 1st degree felony.

Previously on April 7th, Mount Pleasant Police Department Detectives arrested 41 year old Timothy Paul Rovell of Titus County for Possession of Child Pornography and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Williams was arrested on April 9th for Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair a Criminal Investigation. Williams made bail on the first charge but was rearrested in Texarkana. Williams is currently in custody at the Titus County Jail on 3 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Her arraignment for the Sexual Assault of a Child is pending arraignment this weekend.

The child in this case is currently 6 years old. Detectives believe the child was 4 years old when the assault occurred. She does not live in Mount Pleasant but was visiting Williams in Mount Pleasant when the assault occurred. This is an extremely disturbing assault, said Mount Pleasant Police Chief Wayne Isbell. The assault on the child had been video recorded, which was discovered after detectives obtained a search warrant for a memory card that had been seized as evidence.

The Mount Pleasant Police Victim Services Coordinator has been working with the family during this trying time. No one expects this to happen to an innocent child and to see it happen on a recording was disturbing for the investigators involved.

Additionally, another warrant was served on Rovell Friday for Indecency with a Child, a second degree felony. He will also be arraigned this weekend on the new charge.

This continues to be an ongoing investigation that could result in additional charges against both Rovell and Williams.
