The Program for Learning and Community Engagement at Texas A&M University-Texarkana will feature Dr. James Presley with “Superfund Drama in Texarkana: The Battle of Carver Terrace” on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. in University Center 210 on the A&M-Texarkana campus at 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

The event is free and open to the public.

“Dr. Presley’s presentation integrates a prior PLACE theme of Environmental Issues and this year’s theme of Race and Ethnicity,” says Dr. Tom Wagy, Professor of History and PLACE Committee member.
Dr. Presley will base his lecture largely on first-hand, eye-witness experiences, and focus on the interplay of race, politics and environment at the local level.

Dr. Presley is a native of Nash, Texas, a graduate of Redwater High School and the author of nine nonfiction books, numerous articles, short fiction and poetry. He received his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin.
