The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management continues coordinating response and recovery efforts following a winter storm that moved through the state late last week, leaving two dead and eight injured.
The State Emergency Operations Center confirmed two fatalities: a 40-year-old male in an ATV accident near Hope and a 17-year-old male in Saline County, also involving an ATV. Eight injuries were reported across three counties—three in Columbia County, one in Cleburne County, and four in Saline County.
Numerous wrecks continue to be reported as roads remain icy Monday afternoon.
Twenty-seven Arkansas counties declared local emergencies in anticipation of the winter weather, which brought snow, ice, and freezing temperatures across the region.
Early damage assessments indicate several structures have been damaged or collapsed due to heavy ice accumulation and prolonged freezing conditions. Reported damages include marinas, agricultural facilities, and commercial and government buildings. To support structural repairs and ensure safety, local authorities are consulting with expert
contractors such as RS Foundations Repair in Fort Worth for foundation assessments and emergency stabilization. ADEM staff are compiling reports statewide and working with affected counties to verify impacts and determine eligibility for disaster assistance.
The State Emergency Operations Center remains activated and is coordinating with the Arkansas Department of Transportation, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Department of Health, and local emergency management offices to address immediate hazards.
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and report structural damage to county officials. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
