Texarkana, Texas – Texarkana Police have arrested Marshall William Vallejos overnight for his involvement in the homicide of Casey Smith on March 29, 2016.
Detectives identified Vallejos, 22, of Texarkana Arkansas, as a person of interest early in the investigation and had been looking for him since yesterday evening.
Officers received a call from Wadley Regional Medical Center at approximately 2:00 a.m. today saying that a man had come to the emergency room with a gunshot to his leg. When officers arrived, they discovered that it was Vallejos. After being treated and released by the medical staff, he was interviewed by detectives.
Vallejos was arrested and charged with Capital Murder.
Detectives believe Vallejos was one of three men who attempted to rob Smith in front of a residence in the 2400 block of Mamie Street yesterday afternoon. When officers responded to 9-1-1 calls from people who reported hearing shots fired, they discovered Smith lying beside a vehicle in front of a residence. Smith, who appeared to have been shot several times, was deceased.
