The good times were roaring 1920s style at the Silvermoon on Broad on Saturday as the Texarkana Museums System hosted their first annual Blues, Booze and Shoes: A Gatsby Extravaganza to benefit the Ace of Clubs House. Ladies flapped around in their fringe studded dresses and the fellows donned caps and suspenders. Food, fashion, and festivities abounded as the music of Three of a Kind floated through the air.

Even before entering the doors of the Silvermoon on Broad, Party-goers were greeted with three vintage cars, including a Model T. Festivities included popular parlor games, fox trotting and costume contests. The tables were beautifully decorated and included the rich history of the 20’s and Texarkana.

There was even a display from the Olivia Smith Moore collection. Jane Portis admired the collection saying, “My feet are the same size as hers were…it makes me want to wear them all.”

Aside from wanting to host a fun and festive event, Texarkana Museums System held the party to raise funds for the Ace of Clubs house. The old jewel of Texarkana is badly in need of repairs and restoration. Organizers were encouraged with a nice turnout and participation.

Robin Bobo attended the event to support the organization. “I love that the Texarkana Museums System is putting on so many historical events. I love the rich history here. We have four amazing resources for history here and they need more coverage and more support,” she said.

Winners of the costume contests are as follows:
Jane Portis—Best Dressed Dame
Eric Woods—Best Dressed Gent
Joe and Cheryl Saul-Sehy—Best Dressed Couple
Lena O’Dell—Best Shoe
