Bowie County CO Accused Of Bringing Drugs Into Jail
TEXARKANA, Texas–A former Bowie County correctional officer who allegedly
brought synthetic marijuana into the downtown Texarkana annex has been
charged with delivery of a controlled substance and prohibited substance in
a correctional facility.
Madison Estelle Jones, 29, was arrested Friday following a routine pat down
as she entered the facility, according to a probable cause affidavit. Jones
allegedly claimed that inmates had threatened to distribute intimate photos
of her and that one had threatened to “put his hands on her” if she didn’t
bring in the contraband, the affidavit said.
The suspected synthetic marijuana, also known as K2, weighed 385 grams, the
affidavit said.
Jones is currently free on bonds totaling $60,000, according to the Bowie
County Sheriff’s Office.
Jones faces five to 99 years or life in prison if convicted of delivery of
a controlled substance. If found guilty of prohibited substance or item in
a correctional facility, Jones faces two to ten years in prison.
The case has been assigned to 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison. No
attorney of record was listed for Jones on Thursday.
