The Caddo Area Council, Scouting America, will recognize 17 local Scouts who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout at a special banquet on March 19 at Williams United Methodist Church in Texarkana.

The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement in Scouting, with fewer than 4 percent of Scouts nationally earning the distinction. The rank requires years of commitment, leadership, and service.

To achieve Eagle Scout status, Scouts must progress through multiple advancement levels, demonstrate strong character and citizenship, and earn a minimum of 21 merit badges in areas including leadership, first aid, citizenship, and environmental stewardship. Candidates must also plan, develop, and lead a significant service project that benefits their community.

The 17 honorees completed service projects that have made lasting contributions across the Texarkana area, including improvements to parks and public spaces, support for schools and nonprofit organizations, assistance to veterans and first responders, and enhancements to public facilities.

“These Eagle Scouts exemplify leadership, service, and responsibility,” said L.J. Henson, Scout Executive of the Caddo Area Council. “Their accomplishments reflect not only personal dedication, but also a strong commitment to making a positive difference in our community.”

The banquet will formally acknowledge each Scout’s achievement and recognize the support of families, volunteer leaders, and community partners.
