CHRISTUS St. Michael holding walk-in interviews for nursing positions

CHRISTUS St. Michael is looking for compassionate and experienced nurses to fill a number of positions, and will be holding walk-in interviews throughout the entire month of June. This is the first time for CHRISTUS St. Michael to try this style of interview process, and they’ve already seen great success with it in the first two weeks. According to HR recruiter Kelsi Ayres, their goal was to shorten the hiring process to help it fit more easily into people’s busy schedules.

“It can be a long process from the candidate submitting an application, to us reviewing it, to getting that to the manager, and then to setting up an interview and going through the offer process,” said Ayres. “So we were looking to find a creative new way to make this process super convenient and super fast for candidates.”

The walk-in interviews will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, from now until the end of June. Signs in the hospital lobby will direct applicants to the Human Resources department where they will fill out a preference sheet stating which departments they would like to work in, and based off preferences, will then be called to the respective manager’s office for the interview.

“We’ve had a few people that interviewed with a couple of different departments and ended up having a choice between two different departments that wanted to make them an offer,” said Ayres of how well this process has worked for some applicants.

Positions they are looking to hire include full-time and PRN positions. There are positions available in critical care departments like ICU and ED, and a few in inpatient units as well. Sign-on bonuses are available for some ICU positions, for candidates with the required amount of ICU experience.

Candidates must bring a resume with them to the interview. It is strongly recommended that candidates fill out an application on www.careers.christushealth.org beforehand to speed up the process even more.

“If we do decide to make an offer, the application is something we would need prior to completing the process, so having it done beforehand would cut out another extra step,” says Ayres.

CHRISTUS St. Michael has been a part of the Texarkana community for over 100 years and has left a continued legacy of excellence. It is a rapidly growing, faith based organization that encourages improvement in its employees through professional development.

“We’re looking for nurses in our community, or perhaps the outlying communities, who’ve maybe thought about coming to work for us, but weren’t really sure, or maybe they applied in the past and didn’t get that opportunity,” said Ayres. “Now is the time. We’re looking for nurses that are compassionate about the care that they give and we’re excited to see what new, awesome, talent we get with this.”
