City of Texarkana, Texas Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City of Texarkana, Texas is pleased to announce that it has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) based on the City’s comprehensive annual financial report.

This recognition is the highest of its kind in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, showcasing City staff’s dedication to excellence and honesty. The City of Texarkana, Texas has received this recognition for a consecutive 27 years.

“The City’s Finance Department works every day to ensure we remain good stewards of the City’s finances while also being as transparent as possible,” said Shirley Jaster, interim city manager. “Kristin Peeples and her team excel at telling our city’s story through clear financial reporting, which only emphasizes our goal of keeping citizens first.”

According to a press release by the Government Finance Officer’s Association, the City’s comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to ensure that it met the high standards of the program. Judges looked for organizations that demonstrated a “spirit of full disclosure” to communicate the city’s financial story, according to the release.
