Cyber Crimes Unit Arrests Union County Man | Attorney General Dustin McDaniel

Little Rock, Arkansas | A Union County man was arrested today by agents from the Attorney General’s Office for possession of child pornography, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said.

Javelle Washington, 34, of El Dorado was arrested this afternoon on 30 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, a Class C felony. Washington was being held in the Union County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Agents with the Attorney General’s Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at Washington’s residence in the 5600 block of Magnolia Highway in El Dorado this morning. Investigators seized a tablet computer, two external hard drives and other electronic evidence. That evidence will be analyzed at the Cyber Crimes Unit Forensic Lab in Little Rock.

Special Agent Mike Lett began investigating Washington after suspecting that child pornography was being possessed at his residence.

The Union County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation and arrest.

The Attorney General’s Office will turn over its completed case file to 13th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Ian Vickery.

Charges are merely accusations and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
