Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery (formerly CHRISTUS Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery) recently welcomed Thomas Hoang, M.D., cardiovascular thoracic surgeon, to serve patients in the Texarkana area/four states region. The clinic is located in the CHRISTUS St. Michael Medical Plaza, 2604 St. Michael Drive, Suite 425, Texarkana, TX.

“We are excited Dr. Hoang has joined the CHRISTUS Trinity system in Texarkana,” said Suman Sinha, M.D., MS, MBA, FCCP, FACP, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Market Medical Director for the Texarkana region. “He comes to us from the Dallas/Plano/Richardson area, where he has been widely acclaimed as a leading cardiothoracic surgeon for several years including recognitions such as Physician of the Year; Best Doctor: Cardiothoracic Surgery in Dallas Magazine for 13 years running, Physician Hero Award for Outstanding Patient Care; and Texas Super Doctor by Texas Monthly Magazine. His expertise, experience and passion for his calling certainly contribute to the clinic’s ability to provide the highest level of care for our patients.”

A graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Dr. Hoang completed his general surgery internship/residency at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA. He completed fellowships in thoracic surgery and heart and lung transplantation at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, OH. He is board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery and General Surgery and certified in the da Vinci Robotics Surgical System.

Initially leaning toward internal medicine as his specialty, Dr. Hoang experienced a change of heart when he was able to hear and meet with medical pioneer Dr. Michael DeBakey, the first surgeon to perform coronary artery bypass surgery. “It was at that point when I realized where my medical career needed to focus,” Hoang said. “To this day, what I do is very rewarding. It’s hard work, but to have the opportunity to save lives and make an impact on someone’s life is a privilege. In Texarkana, I have the opportunity to join outstanding health care systems (CHRISTUS Trinity Clinics & CHRISTUS St. Michael) and to provide care in a great community,” Dr. Hoang said.

CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, headquartered in Tyler, TX, is the region’s preferred multi-specialty medical group, with more than 500 physicians and advanced practice providers representing 36 specialties, in 34 locations serving Northeast Texas, across 41 counties. Nine area medical practices, formerly with CHRISTUS Physician Group, joined CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, effective July 1, 2017.
