Motorists who normally travel FM 2148 between US 67 and US 59 near Lake Wright Patman will need to find an alternate route on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 28. Union Pacific Railroad will be closing the highway to through-traffic on this date to make repairs to the railroad crossing.
The crossing will close at 1 p.m. and last until the work is done.
Traffic will officially be detoured on a signed route on US 67, FM 989 and US 59. Trucks must use the official detour route, but other motorists may use local routes they find more convenient. Portable message boards have been placed near the railroad crossing beforehand to warn motorists of the scheduled road closure. The construction schedule and road closure can change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen problems.
