King Park Fireworks Show, Wake Village — July 4
Wake Village invites the community to America’s 250th Independence Day Fireworks Show at King Park on Saturday, July 4. Music and food get underway at 6 p.m., with fireworks at dark. The celebration features live music, food, drink and treat vendors, and drink stations. The show is sponsored by Red River Credit Union.
Celebrating America 250 at Historic Washington State Park — July 3-5
Historic Washington State Park marks America’s 250th birthday with a full weekend of activities Friday through Sunday, July 3-5, at 100 SW Morrison in Washington, Arkansas. Each day, visitors can make their own patriotic cockade, take in historic games and 19th-century patriotic tour programs, and hear readings of the Declaration of Independence at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. On Friday, the Stewart Family Bluegrass Band performs “Celebrating America” at Music in the Park at 7:30 p.m., with food available for purchase beforehand on the courthouse lawn. Williams Tavern Restaurant will serve Southern-style food throughout the weekend, and carriage rides will be available weather permitting. DeKalb Independence Day Celebration — July 3
The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and DeKalb Oktoberfest invite the community to an Independence Day Celebration at DeKalb City Park. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with food trucks and two water slides for the kids. Fireworks will light up the sky starting at dark, around 9 p.m. Organizers ask attendees to bring lawn chairs and note that dogs are not permitted.
Simms VFD Fireworks — July 3
The Simms Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual fireworks show Friday night at 10648 FM 990 in De Kalb. Fireworks begin at dark. The Rusted Cup will be on site serving dirty sodas, and Kona Ice will have snowcones available.
Doddridge Park Independence Day Celebration — July 4
Celebrate America’s 250th birthday at Doddridge Park on Highway 160 in Doddridge, Arkansas. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with water slides for the kids, a kiddie train ride, free watermelon, and free freezer pops. Food will be available including pulled pork sandwiches with chips and a drink for $10, and hot dogs with chips and a drink for $8. Bring your lawn chairs. The fireworks show begins at dark. Everyone is invited.
Fouke Freedom Fest — July 4
The Miller County Fair Association hosts Freedom Fest on Saturday, July 4, at 403 East Lewis in Fouke, Arkansas. Admission is free and doors open at 6 p.m. The celebration features live music, snow cones, food and dirty sodas, and a fireworks show. Free popsicles and hot dogs will be served while supplies last, and the first 50 kids receive a free kids meal voucher from Texas Roadhouse.
God and Country 250th Celebration and Purple Heart Dedication — July 4
Fouke City and the River of Life Worship Center host a God and Country 250th Celebration and Purple Heart Dedication on Saturday, July 4, at the River of Life Worship Center, 705 Texas Ave. in Fouke, Arkansas. Family activities begin at 5 p.m. and include pony and mule rides, volleyball, basketball, and games for the kids, followed by a barbecue dinner. A God and Country worship service and Purple Heart recognition ceremony will honor combat-wounded veterans, with a rifle salute, bugle taps, and a Civil War cannon firing. Fireworks light up the sky over Lake El Shaddai after dark. The event is presented by the River of Life Worship Center, Ben’s Heart Honor Guard, and Fouke City.
Sparks Fly In July — July 4
Hope, Arkansas, hosts its sixth annual Sparks Fly In July fireworks show on Saturday, July 4, at the Hope Municipal Airport. Entry is free and gates open at 5 p.m. A Most Patriotic Outfit contest with cash prizes takes place at 8:30 p.m. in front of the stage, with two age divisions: 12 and under, and 13 and up. The event is sponsored by Ivan Smith Furniture and Browns Diner.
Living Histories: Moments That Made Us — July 4 and 10
The Texarkana Museums System is launching Moments That Made Us, its new America250 exhibit exploring the people, stories and events that helped shape the region and the nation. In partnership with Tex*Rep, the museum system presents Living Histories, a series of reenactments and storytelling that bring the past to life. Two special Living-History performances are set: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, and 6 p.m. Friday, July 10, both at the Ace of Clubs House, 420 Pine Street in Texarkana. The series is presented with support from Humanities Texas, and registration is available online.
Ashdown July 4th Community Celebration — July 4
The Little River County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Ashdown, hosts its annual July 4th Community Celebration on Saturday, July 4, at Ashdown Junior High School, 600 S. Ellen Drive in Ashdown. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with live music from Michael Rhodes and The Jive Band, food trucks, and local vendors. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs. The fireworks show will begin at dark, immediately following the concert.
Freedom Fest, New Boston — July 4
Epperson Fireworks and the Boston Entertainment District present Freedom Fest on Saturday, July 4, at the T&P Trailhead Park pavilion in New Boston. Entry is free and live music starts at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks show. Food trucks will be on site, and the Boy Scouts will serve burgers.
Red, White and Deluzion, Bossier City — July 4
Margaritaville Resort Casino in Bossier City hosts Red, White and Deluzion, a Fourth of July party at the Busted Coconut bar from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Admission is free, with music from DJ Deluzion, cold drinks and summer vibes. A fireworks show follows later that night.
