Gun Falls Out of Man’s Pocket Shooting him in Ankle at Lowe’s

According to Texarkana, Texas Police they responded to Lowes last night about 8:00 with the report of a man having accidentally shot himself inside the store.

When police arrived, the man had already left the store after walking out to a gold GMC Jimmy.

Witnesses told police that it appeared that an older man had fallen and somehow discharged the gun in his pocket during the fall.   Police contacted area hospitals and asked that they notify us if anyone came into the emergency room with a gunshot wound.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., a man called police and advised that he was the man who had shot himself.  The dispatcher advised the man to go to the hospital for treatment and that officers would meet him there.  Once at St. Michaels, the 52 year old man told officers that he was trying to pull a piece of paper from his pocket and the gun fell out.  When it hit the ground, it discharged and struck him in the ankle.  He said that he left the store because he was embarrassed about what had happened.
