Hooks Coach Arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance

A Hooks ISD coach was arrested for a possession of a controlled substance charge.

According to police, 43-year-old Michael Terrance Ruth was arrested Monday afternoon in the 4700 block of Elizabeth Street.

According to the Hooks ISD website Ruth is a coach for Baseball & Football.

According to police he was stopped for a traffic violation while leaving a place known for drug activity. While investigating officers were given pills which are believed to be Oxycontin.

Ruth was charged with possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram. He has been released on $3,000 bond.
