Ermer Pondexter Receives First Ever Spirit of Community Award

Approximately thirty people attended the regular meeting of the Board of Directors for the City of Texarkana, Arkansas on Monday, February 5, 2017.

 

Mayor Bell presented the City of Texarkana, Arkansas Employee service awards to Roberto Vasquez, 15 years with Texarkana Water Utilities; James Taylor, TWU 20 years; Sally McAllister, TWU 30 years.

She also presented a personally written letter and the first ever Spirit of Community Award to Ermer Pondexter, thanking her for the innumerable service and sacrifice she has given to Texarkana, Arkansas.  The Mayor acknowledged Pondexter’s efforts going above and beyond, commemorating her as a champion and the embodiment of community for Texarkana, Arkansas.

 

TyRhonda Henderson later spoke regarding adopting Ordinance No. M-115 and approving Personnel Police Amendments.  A Public Hearing was conducted by Mayor Bell and the ordinance was read in its entirety.

 

The Board also considered adopting an ordinance pertaining to the City of Texarkana, Arkansas Franchise Fee Secured Capital Improvements Revenue bonds, Series 2018, and an ordinance granting the request for prerequisite municipal approval of a private club application for Crazy Horse Saloon.  The Saloon has been in operation for 5 years and is seeking the ability to sell liquor to stay competitive.

 

Executive Session was entered for the consideration of appointments to various boards, commission, and committees, including the A&P Commission, Heating and Air Conditioning Board of Review, and Historic District Commission.  They also discussed the Boards and Commissions Expiration of Terms.

 

The next scheduled regular meeting of the Board of Directors is Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
