The Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties will host free tax preparation services for the fifth consecutive year through the IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Counseling for the Elderly (VITA/TCE) program.

The program, which begins filing returns on January 26, serves individuals and families with annual household incomes of $67,000 or less, individuals with disabilities, and taxpayers with limited English proficiency.

“Free, reliable tax preparation is a critical resource for our community,” said Jackie Whittington, Executive Director of the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties. “Through this program, we help hardworking individuals and families keep more of what they earn, avoid costly filing errors, and access refunds and credits that can be truly life-changing.”
