Local Soldiers Provide Aid During Winter Storm

On January 27, 2026, soldiers from Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment stepped up to assist emergency responders during a winter storm in Dierks, Arkansas. Supply Specialist Samantha Douglas from Ashdown and Infantry Private First Class Mark Sillavan from Nashville provided critical support amid challenging weather conditions.

The Soldiers were initially en route to assist the Nashville Fire Department on a medical call when they were redirected to aid Pafford EMS. Their timely intervention became essential after a man suffered a severe head injury, necessitating rapid medical assistance.

To facilitate the emergency response, Douglas and Sillavan took charge of securing South Main Street, creating a safe landing zone for a medical helicopter. Their quick actions enabled the smooth transfer of the patient to the aircraft, ensuring that he received the necessary care as swiftly as possible.
