Local Team Heads to North Carolina for World Series

The 12 year old and under (12u) All-Stars from Texarkana Arkansas Baseball Association (TABA) won the Arkansas State Dixie Tournament to earn a spot to represent the state of Arkansas at the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series held in Lumberton, North Carolina starting on August 3.

The team went a perfect 5-0 in the Arkansas State Tournament that was held at their home field at Ed Worrell Park in Texarkana July 13-15. The 12u’s defeated Dixie teams from Idabel, OK, Texarkana, Mineral Springs, and Ashdown. The tournament sweep was capped off by defeating Idabel once again in the championship game by the score of 10-4. In North Carolina, the Arkansas 12u’s will face other 12u state champs from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Arkansas’ opening game will match them against the state champs from Tennessee on Saturday, August 4 in Lumberton. The Dixie World Series is a double-elimination format with the championship game set for Thursday, August 9 against the two teams left standing.
