5:15 P.M. Monday | A three vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on I-30 near the I-49 bridge in Arkansas had traffic backed up for a few hours this afternoon. The accident involved a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a Hummer and a Subaru.
According to Kristi Mitchell, Public Information Officer for Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, the motorcycle sustained a rear tire malfunction causing the vehicle to crash in the right outside lane.The passenger of the motorcycle was separated from the vehicle. Due to the accident a silver subaru SUV applied breaks to stop for the upcoming accident. A black hummer then rear ended the silver SUV casing the passenger of the motorcycle to be struck by the SUV.
The female passenger, 51 years of age from Denver co, was later airlifted to uams in little rock for medical attention. The driver of the motorcycle, 59 years of age male from Dallas tx, sustained non life threatening injuries.
The motorcyclist was taken by LifeNet to St. Michaels hospital. LifeNet Air was heard launching soon afterwards taking a major trauma victim from St. Michaels Hospital to a hospital in Little Rock. It is unconfirmed that this was related but the timing would indicate so.
