Texarkana Texas Police Department warned the local public this morning about a massive nationwide airbag recall. This recall affects 14 different automakers which are being recalled in order to replace the front airbags on both the driver’s and passenger’s side of the vehicle. According to news releases this recall has been the largest safety recall in the United State history.

The problem involves defective inflators and propellent devices that may deploy improperly in the event of a crash, shooting metal fragments into those in the vehicle. This explosive deploy could injure or even kill occupants. Approximately 34 million vehicles are potentially affected in the United States, and another 7 million have been recalled worldwide.

The airbags, made by major parts supplier Takata, were mostly installed in cars from model year 2002 through 2015. Some of those airbags could deploy explosively, injuring or even killing car occupants.
