Texarkana Police arrested Brandon Walls, 21, of Maud, Texas, yesterday at approximately 5:40 p.m. after he assaulted the clerk at the Ramada Inn, located in the 5400 block of North Stateline Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the hotel lobby. As the first officer arrived, he observed a man chasing another across the Waffle House parking lot, which is located adjacent to the hotel. The officer stopped both men and discovered that man who had been chasing the other had a serious injury to his eye. He told the officer that Walls had assaulted him at the hotel.

It was determined that the injured man was the clerk at Ramada Inn and Walls had been renting a room there. After the clerk told Walls that he could no longer stay at the hotel for violations of hotel rules, Walls became very aggressive and came behind the counter several times as though he wanted to fight. The clerk produced a small baseball bat from under the counter and told Walls that he would refund his money if he would leave. After the clerk put away the bat and followed Walls outside, he told him that he was not welcome to return to the property. Walls then removed his shirt, hit the clerk in his eye at least one time and fled on foot with the clerk giving chase.

After arresting Walls, officers found a glass pipe with a burnt bowl on one end in his pants pocket. These are commonly used to smoke methamphetamine.

Walls was charged with Aggravated Assault with Serious Bodily Injury and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The officers also served two outstanding arrest warrants for failing to appear on previous arrests for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is currently being held in the Bi-State Jail on a $75,000 bond for the felony Aggravated Assault charge, as well as another $1,150 for the three misdemeanor charges.

The 27 year old victim was treated for his injuries at Christus St. Michael Hospital.
