A Texarkana man indicted for murder earlier this month by a Bowie County grand jury entered a not guilty plea to murder Monday.
Michael Moore, 25, appeared for arraignment at the Bi-State Justice Center on Monday morning before 202nd District Judge Leon Pesek Jr. Bowie County First Assistant Public Defender Will Williams entered a plea of not guilty to murder on Moore’s behalf.
Moore is accused of causing the death of KaDerious King while babysitting for the child’s mother Nov. 21, according to a probable cause affidavit. Emergency medical personnel who first responded to a call regarding the child believed he was a choking victim but an autopsy showed the young boy died of blunt force trauma injuries.
Pesek scheduled a pretrial hearing in the case for Oct. 24. A trial date wasn’t set Monday. Moore is currently in Bowie County custody. If found guilty of murder, he faces five to 99 years or life in prison.
