Man With 2016 Child Porn Conviction Faces New Federal Charges In Texarkana
Arkansas Feds Accuse Man Of Child Porn Possession With Prior Conviction
TEXARKANA, Ark. – Federal authorities in Texarkana, Ark., have accused a
man convicted in 2016 of child pornography crimes with possessing child
pornography in Arkansas last year.
Robert Dee Carter, 55, allegedly was found in possession of child sexual
abuse material in June of last year, according to an indictment unsealed
this month in the Texarkana Division of the Western District of Arkansas.
The children depicted in the images were prepubescent and some of the
children were less than 12 years of age, the indictment alleges.
Carter was arrested in Oklahoma in 2015 following a search of his Ardmore
residence, according to court records. Carter pleaded guilty the following
year to distribution of child pornography and aggravated possession of
child pornography.
Carter pleaded not guilty to the new federal charges at a hearing May 6
before U.S. Magistrate Judge Spencer G. Singleton. Carter waived the issue
of detention and will remain in custody while his case proceeds.
Carter is represented by Alex Wynn of the Federal Public Defender’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Graham Jones is representing the government.
The case is currently scheduled for a jury trial next month before U.S.
District Judge Susan O. Hickey in Texarkana’s downtown federal building.
