The monthly Texarkana, Arkansas, recycling event, Green Texarkana, will be held Saturday.

Paper, cardboard and plastic will be accepted at this event, and those materials can be mixed together. Other items that will be accepted but should be separated are electronics, ink cartridges, small metal like steel and aluminum cans, and plastic film such as grocery bags.

Green Texarkana takes place from 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday at East Third and Hazel streets. Residents must wait to bring their items until volunteers arrive at 8 a.m., Saturday. Bringing items prior to this time and leaving them in the parking lot is considered littering.

This is the last single-stream recycling event the City will host in 2014, and Recycling Coordinator Brandy Lewis invites the public to come out and help the City reach its recycling goals.

“We want the program will grow annually. Every year we aim to recycle a little bit more than we did the year before,” Lewis said. “In 2014 the community really stepped up and took advantage of our expanding recycling opportunities, but we would love to see a big push at the last Green Texarkana of the year.”

Green Texarkana cannot accept glass, Styrofoam, tires, furniture or hazardous materials. For more information please call 870-779-4946.
