Nash officer receives Meritorious Conduct Award for saving man’s life

On Monday, March 14 at the Nash City Council meeting Officer Garrett received a Meritorious Conduct Award for his actions on December, 12 2015.

According to Nash Police, Officer Garrett responded to a major accident involving a motorcycle at FM 2148 and Highway 82. As Officer Garrett arrived on scene he located the driver of the motorcycle and proceeded to provide medical care for him.

The driver of the motorcycle suffered severe bleeding from a laceration on his arm. Officer Garrett’s quick thinking and training allowed him to place a tourniquet on the patient’s arm, stopping the bleeding and saving his life.

The driver was then taken to St. Michael’s in critical condition but made a full recovery.
