New Boston High School student killed in wreck

An 18-year-old New Boston High School student, Myranda Finley, was killed in wreck just after Midnight Monday.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on FM-1840 in Bowie County, about one mile west of New Boston, TX at 12:12 a.m.

The preliminary crash investigation indicated that a 2005 Nissan Altima was traveling west on FM-1840, when the Nissan Altima struck a concrete culvert after leaving the roadway on the right side. The vehicle then went airborne before striking a tree.

The driver of the Nissan Altima, Myranda Diana Finley, an 18-year-old female from Naples, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Justice of the Peace Curtis Cole.

Counselors and pastors will be on hand at New Boston High School to offer any needed emotional support.
