One Arrested for Burglary and Assault on a Peace Officer

On December 31, 2014 at approximately 6:20am, officers were dispatched to an Alarm call at a business in the 2100 block of New Boston Road. Officers observed a suspect inside the store upon their arrival.

Officers attempted to take the suspect, later identified as Charlie Evans, 19, of Texarkana Texas, in to custody. Evans turned around and struck the officer in the face with a closed fist. Evans was able to break free from the officer’s grasp and flee on foot. Officers caught Evans in the 300 block of Jerome Street where he was taken in to custody without further incident. Evans was charged with Burglary of a Building, Evading Arrest, Assault on a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest.

The officer suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention. The items taken in the burglary were recovered and returned to their owner.
