One injured by firework blast at Bringle Lake Park; 18-year-old arrested

One person was taken to a hospital by LifeNet after being shot in the face with a firework at Bringle Lake Park on the Fourth of July. An 18-year-old from Hooks was arrested on an assault charge.

One person was taken to a hospital by LifeNet after being shot in the face with a firework at Bringle Lake Park on the night of the Fourth of July.

Emergency crews responded Saturday night to Bringle Lake Park West, 7602 Bringle Lake Road, where jail records list the incident at 8:57 p.m.

Texarkana, Texas, police officers stopped a vehicle matching the suspect’s description near the park a short time later, and one person was arrested on an assault charge, according to police radio traffic.

Jail records identify the person arrested as Blake Ryan Banks, 18, of Hooks. Banks was booked into the Bi-State Justice Center shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday on a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

The condition of the person who was injured was not immediately available.
