Overnight crash sends family to hospital

Texarkana Police are investigating a single vehicle accident that occurred yesterday at 11:45 p.m. on St. Michael Drive at Richill Drive.

A 2006 Pontiac G6 travelling westbound on St. Michael Drive left the roadway for unknown reasons, before entering the ditch and striking the culvert in front of TaMolly’s Mexican Restaurant. The driver, Jyrean Jones, 30, of Texarkana Texas, was ejected from the vehicle through the driver’s side window. His wife, Sadie Jones, 27, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. She suffered a broken hip and leg. The couple’s three children, ages 3, 7, and 8 years old, were in the back seat and were all injured. All five people were transported to area hospitals. Two of the children were later airlifted to a Little Rock hospital, where one is being treated with head trauma and the other a collapsed lung. They are listed as being in critical but stable condition.

No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
